What it is
A research and education platform, not a legal advice service.
Open to individuals, families, employers and non-profits working through their own matters, and to immigration attorneys researching their clients'. It is not a substitute for a lawyer.
Every question is answered twice, side by side. One panel reads a curated library of primary U.S. immigration law and cites a source for every claim. The second answers from training knowledge alone, with no research at all, and says so. A third reads both and reports where they part company. How it works →
It is also Lemmy Law's technology sandbox. What proves itself here improves the firm's own work for its own clients.

Primary mandate
- A sandbox. To act as a sandbox for technology innovations that improve Lemmy Law's technology capabilities, efficiency and client experience.
- Access to justice. To contribute meaningfully to Lemmy Law's mission to increase access to justice for unserved and underserved members of the global public who need help with U.S. immigration law, including individuals, companies and non-profits in the United States and also outside it in Singapore, ASEAN and the wider Asia-Pacific, on an inclusive but not exclusive basis.
- Affordable resources. To provide affordable research and education resources on U.S. immigration law.
Secondary mandate
- Watch the field. To monitor developments in legaltech as it applies to U.S. immigration practice.
- Understand the effect of AI. To monitor and analyse the impact of AI and frontier technologies on the U.S. immigration legal service industry.
- Stand with the smaller practice. To recognise the importance and contribution of solo practitioners, small-to-medium regional U.S. immigration law firms and immigration non-profits, to advocate for their continued role, and to enable them with cost-effective technology to defend against disruption that would push the market toward an oligopoly of very large deep-pocketed firms and institutionally funded technology companies.

Lemuel "Lemmy" Lim
Founder, Lemmy Law · Creator of Dickie Woods
Lemmy built Dickie Woods after seeing the same pattern in different places: legal fees are often priced in a way that shuts ordinary people out. During his postgraduate studies at the University of Washington (Seattle), he came across research on access to justice and the high fees charged by the legal profession. It set him on a path to make legal help more affordable.
He began his immigration practice in Everett, Washington, advising individuals, professionals, investors and companies. His background combines U.S. immigration practice with technology, tax, banking and capital markets, M&A and corporate law across the United States, the United Kingdom and Singapore.
Before founding Lemmy Law he was Head of Legal for a Singapore-based technology company, leading the legal function across immigration, corporate structuring, tax, intellectual property, employment, data governance and commercial contracting. Earlier, he built his foundation in financial services in London and Singapore, at Goldman Sachs, HSBC and The Bank of New York Mellon.
